The oil replaces butter and it therefore provides less saturated fats
The Recipe
Zest of fruit peel, nutmegs and spices plus ginger
Ingredients:
This dish will serve at least six, or one hungry teen four times for breakfast.
The fruit can be interchanged with anything, really - make it seasonal or use up frozen fruit, as I do. I always freeze plums over summer that we can’t get through.
1 1/2 cups of wholemeal rolled oats, as these can be a bit big and tough, I put them in the blender
1/4 cup of crystallised ginge,r which I put into the blender with the oats to break down
1/2 cup of plain flour
1/2 cup of coconut
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/2 tsp nutmeg and then 1 tsp of mixed spices, but play around here with what you like
1/2 - 3/4 cup of The Avo Keeper avocado oil, play with this again to get the consistency you like
Mix it all into a crumble. I also sprinkled some citrus peel on top of the fruit to give a little bite. Cook on 180 degrees for at least 45 mins, it should be bubbling around the edges. You shouldnt add water to fruit.
